the morning stage
The morning show kicked off at 11 in front of a pavilion full of Poi families. Poi dove through a set of old favorites, some of which haven't surfaced in live shows in years. Each member of the band introduced his or her instrument and the kids got to see firsthand how the band works together. The kids were encouraged to sing along, especially with U Li La Lu and Shu Zulu Za (Pow! Pow! Pow!).

Of course, many of the kids really got to get in on the act. Several lucky little Poi Pounders, including one Ms. Sophie Juhlin, got to come up on stage and play percussion under the expert tutelage of Leddie Garcia. Arlene's daughter, making her debut before an audience, took lead vocals on "Greatest Love of All."

Right after the morning show, Frank took Ursula out for a stroll among the kids, who were eager to meet Poi's mascot.

The park closed between sets, but when it re-opened the crowd started to gather early. People picnicked as Chaka, David Prince, and Frank spun tunes.

the night stage
The night show ebbed and flowed through the many moods of Poi. Leading off softly, building to a crescendo, and easing down slowly into the night. The band were joined on stage by some big-show regulars Katherine Pisaro on Oboe, XXX on cello, House O Matic dancing, Stephen Yates putting on a beautiful light show, and Luke Savisky doing his most ambitious film projection to date. The show featured some new additions as well such as a six-member gospel choir and a bag piper.
